The World Food Programme (WFP) is the world’s largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger. WFP works for a world where every man, woman and child has permanent access to enough food to lead a healthy and active life.

The World Food Programme Office in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, is in the process of recruiting an IT Assistant for its humanitarian operations in the same office.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the general supervision of the TEC Manager and the direct supervision of the TEC Operations Associate, you will be responsible for the following tasks (note that this list is not exhaustive):

. Be responsible for managing the entire IT environment of the office

• Assist the associate with IT operations

• Participate in the support service and the processing of various requests on Easy Vista

• Perform system and hardware maintenance tasks, such as operating a dedicated network

• Monitoring and protection of the system, to ensure that the technology is working effectively.

• Monitor technology reliability, identify user needs, analyze data and produce accurate reports to recommend IT solutions to support decision-making based on available information.

• Support the coordination of the implementation of new applications (software) to facilitate the work of WFP staff

• Write standard documents such as user manuals so that users are informed and trained in TEC products and services.

• Implement improvement methods and processes within the TEC unit to support the continuous evolution of the TEC services provided.

• Ensures motion control of all TEC and telecom equipment in the office and produces monthly reports to the direct supervisor.

• Monitor core equipment and submit a weekly report to the supervisor.

• Report IT problems for which interventions are required

• Effectuer d’autres tâches définies par le chef de l’unité TEC

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCES

• Avoir un diplôme universitaire en informatique ou en télécommunications

• Avoir au moins deux ans d’expérience dans un poste similaire

• Capable de concevoir, développer, tester, appliquer et maintenir des systèmes d’information/applications/bases de données/matériel et/ou logiciel.

• Avoir une connaissance de base des radios de communication et du système de communication par satellite

• Avoir participé ou réalisé un projet informatique

• Avoir une solide expérience dans le domaine des réseaux (CISCO et IP)

• Avoir un minimum de connaissances dans le processus de gestion de l’environnement informatique

• Travailler avec rigueur et méthode

• Planifier et organiser le travail et rédiger des documents techniques clairs et concis et communiquer verbalement efficacement en anglais et en français.

• Able to handle a large volume of work and in short time frames.

• Able to work with patience and tact with people of different cultures and nationalities

• Able to travel to provincial offices (within the country) and work in stressful conditions

LANGUAGES

• Good knowledge of French and/or English

• Good knowledge of databases

• Ability to understand and write in French and English

• General knowledge of UN system policies, rules, regularizations and procedures governing its administration
